The compact, self-contained ELITE I incorporates a
unique combination of — universal component ter-
minals, a Wide-Range Precision Pulse Generator,
an extremely stable Variable Power Supply, a Ran-
dom Entry Display, and various switches, jacks and
connectors.

This system accommodates a wide variety and con-
siderable number of Integrated Circuits and dis-
crete components, providing the engineer with a
flexible and versatile instrument to design, la^-out,
test and construct circuits.

Many advantages and "short-cuts” are made avail-
able with the ELITE I, such as, the low frequency
pulse range ( I - 1 0 Hz) combined with the indicator
lamps for direct, inter-circuit signal analysis, as
well as, independent component terminal banks and
isolated switches for multi-circuit construction.

In addition to versatility — economy and ease of
operaton were basic parameters in the design of
the ELITE I. The 165 closed entry pin jacks and 4
universal component terminal strips are strategically
located for maximum access and flexibility, and
minimum interconnection lead lengths. Concerning
economy, all jacks and terminal strips accept com-
mon #22 gauge hook-up wire for component inter-
connections.

The Elite 2 has three independent supplies; a 2-10
volt, 2 amp and two 5-30 volt, 0.2 amp units to
suit an even wider variety of circuits than that of
Elite I, including MOS circuits. The regulation of
all three supplies is 0.1% (line and load).

All supplies can be turned on or off with the
built-in "stand by" switch. A feature particularly
useful during the cut-and-try or design phases of
circuit design.

The waveform generator of Elite 2 has sine, triangle,
square-wave and positive and negative pulses. Am-
plitudes are continuously adjustable from 0.1 to 10
volts, in two ranges. The lower range, 0.1 to I volt,
not available in Elite I, permits threshold testing.
Pulse rise and fall times are 1 5 ns compared to 50
ns for Elite I .

Another important feature of Elite 2 is baseline ad-
justment within 10 volts (in two ranges), allow-
ing functional testing at various biasing levels. The
Elite 2 also has a "one-shot" facility, a trigger in-
put and a sync output, absent in Elite I, and 10
toggle switches instead of four in Elite I.

ing days, weeks or even months of old fashion
breadboarding can now be Built, Tested, and Fi-
nalized in a matter of hours . . . without the use of
solder or any special patch cords — #22 gauge
solid insulated hook-up wire is all that's needed for
interconnecting components.

Because there is no soldering, there is no waste
. . . no need to clip out components and throw
them away. Expensive IC's and semiconductors can't
be damaged by heat . . . limited quantity samples
can be re-used. The problems of slobby, unreliable
rat nest breadboards are eliminated.
